You can transfer most types of pension to your SIPP normally without needing advice, (the total combined value of pensions being transferred must be £1,000 or more). These include:

  • Personal and stakeholder pensions
  • Executive Pension Plans (EPPs)
  • Retirement Annuity Contracts (RACs)
  • Other SIPPs
  • Most Additional Voluntary Contribution plans (AVCs) including Free Standing AVCs
  • Most paid-up occupational money purchase pensions
  • Old protected rights pensions accrued from contracting out of the State Second Pension or SERPS (State Earnings Related Pension)
  • Pensions in income drawdown

If your pension isn't listed above, please call the Helpdesk on 0117 314 1795 and speak to a pensions specialist for more information.

How do you transfer your pension?

You can do this online or by post and it only takes two minutes.

There's no need to choose your investments today

Your pension will be transferred as cash so you can decide where to invest your SIPP when the transfer completes. This means it will be unaffected by stock market rises or falls during this period.

Important information

You can't normally access the money in a SIPP until at least age 55 (57 from 2028). Please remember taxation depends on your circumstances and tax rules can change over time. Investments can go down in value as well as up so you could get back less than you invest. This website is not personal advice; if you are unsure of an investment's suitability for your circumstances you should seek advice. Correct for 2021/2022 tax year.
